On February 24, 2018 Vladivostok hosted the 3rd ice half marathon event – “Honor Vladivostok Ice Run”. Sportsmen from 10 countries and 17 Russian regions met on the ice of Novik Inlet just off the coast of Russky Island to compete in running for distances of 5, 10 and 21.1 kilometers. A separate 500-meter distance was also reserved for youngest participants.

The running event summoned over 1000 runners from Primorsky Krai, Arkhangelsk, Blagoveschensk, Omsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and other Russian cities. Besides, participants from China, the US, United Kingdom, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Japan, Republic of Korea and other countries arrived in Vladivostok to have a run through uncommon terrain of frozen sea surface.

The city Mayor Vitaly Verkeyenko welcomed the gathering and noted that this event has already opened a new page in the history of international sport events in Vladivostok and became its calling card.

While the runners traversed the ice-bound sea surface, spectators and supporters could enjoy entertainment activities, hot food and tea as well as musical program provided by organizers.
